ZAINE FRANCIS-ANGOL DEPARTS MEADOW PARK

22 April 2021

Boreham Wood FC can confirm that defender Zaine Francis-Angol due to ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic has today left the Club by mutual consent.

Zaine joined the Wood in the summer of 2020 following his departure from League One’s Accrington Stanley, however his time at Meadow Park has been stop-start following a string of niggling injuries, a COVID-19 isolation period and international duty followed by another close contact isolation period.

Despite limited game time, Zaine was a very popular member of Garrard’s squad and leaves Meadow Park as part of the Wood side that reached the 3rd Round of the FA Cup for the first time in the Club’s history.

Upon the mutual cancellation of Zaine’s contract, he has swiftly signed for National League rivals Hartlepool United, linking back up with the former boss from his AFC Fylde days Dave Challinor, as the the Pools mount an automatic promotion push.

The Club wishes Zaine the best of luck for the remainder of the season and beyond, and thank him for his contributions to the team this season.
