WOODARDS: WE JUST NEED TO GET AROUND EACH OTHER AND USE THAT TOGETHERNESS

14 February 2019

After a recent spell of poor form, Danny Woodards is confident that things will turn around for the remainder of the season.

Woodards spoke to BWTV following a 1-0 loss to Maidenhead United, he began: “In the first half, I thought we dealt with them well, and even in the second half, I thought we had our chances.

“It just feels like at the moment things are not falling for us in the opposition box.”

With the first team featuring a contingent of younger players, the experienced defender recognised the importance of rallying around them during this time.

“I think we do need to get around the younger lads a bit more and give them a little bit of help and guidanc

“It is important to talk them through their game and try and help them as much as we can.

“We need to do our jobs right as well though, and with that, we’ll help get the younger lads to where they need to be.”

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Woodards believes that positivity for the remaining fixtures will help turn their fortunes around.

“We need to stay positive. But, it’s going to be hard because we haven’t picked up many points recently.

“We just need to get around each other and use that togetherness. I think we need to start enjoying our football a little bit again as well and things will change.

“We’re all good players, we know the game, it’s just at the moment things aren’t going our way.”

The Woods’ next fixture is back at Meadow Park against Hartlepool United, where a vital win could be secured to kick-start some better form.

“It’s a must win game. That’s how we have to look at it. We’ve got to do whatever we can do to win that game and we need to go in with a mindset like that.

“Hopefully with that, we will come away from that game with all three points.”
