WOOD SAY GOODBYE TO SOME IMPORTANT SPONSORS

17 August 2020

Boreham Wood FC would like to thank some of our long serving sponsors, who have over the years become firm friends, after learning that some of our very loyal local companies, are not in a position to sponsor the Club this season due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and its economic repercussions.

In truth, these companies, their directors and their staff have become longstanding friends with everyone at the club and will be sorely missed, but due to the present financial climate, their Directors and Owners are simply not in a position to extend their sponsorship for the current season.

This is of course a huge blow to the Club, as it may affect our workforce and perhaps even our first team budget and play-off ambitions – but the Chairman and everyone associated with BWFC are working around the clock to ensure that doesn’t happen.

That said, this news was always something that we feared could happen with perhaps many more of our sponsors and we are just happy that so many have managed to stay with us. With these things now sorted, we have already budgeted for this downturn within next season’s budget.

These financial issues are simply an unfortunate reality of the decline in both our local and wider economy nationally and it’s in truth all due to COVID-19 and it’s something we must all accept is with us for the foreseeable future.

Chairman Danny Hunter said, “It’s perhaps the end of an era for me to lose such loyal sponsors from LEXUS, Mango Tree, Panchai and Reggiani, who for many, many years, have helped me build the mindset and structure of the Club on such solid foundations. However, these companies and these great people are still loyal friends of ours and we’ll support them in any way we can during these tough times.

“I’d be lying if I said it isn’t a huge blow, but it has also has not come out of the blue and it is totally understandable. These companies and their Directors and Owners have been such staunch supporters of me, of the Club, of our academy and I’m forever grateful for their contributions to our Club and our local economy.

“Over the last decade they really have all helped me build local confidence in what we’re doing, they’ve helped me build such a talented workforce at the Club and within the academy, and they’ve also helped me build a winning mindset and formidable dressing room.

“They all know that we’ll still be here waiting for them to return if circumstances and the financial climate improves, but for now, all I can say is a very big thank you to them all, as they’ve been truly outstanding collaborators.” Hunter concluded.
