WOOD HOPING FOR HOME OPENER RECORD CROWD

9 August 2022

After beating ex-Football League club Southend United 1-0 away at Roots Hall on the opening day weekend in front of nearly 5,800 spectators, Wood face yet another big ex-League club when Notts County arrive in town for our first home game of the season this Saturday.

Notts County, along with Hollywood backed Wrexham, are among the strong favourites to return to the EFL this season, so it’s another David and Goliath match for the Wood as our underdogs go up against one of the National League’s big hitters.

Notts County are expected to bring more than 600 supporters with them, even with a rail strike, and with 875 home season tickets now sold, the Club’s ticket office expects a crowd in excess of 1,200, which would be an opening home game attendance record.

The club are urging all Wood season ticket holders, and our occasional supporters who normally go to Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham United and Watford, or anybody else for that matter, if you’re not going to any of their games, then come down and enjoy a day with us and your friends and family. You are all most welcome and will help fuel a fantastic community atmosphere here at the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park.

As an added treat, the new home fan zone will be partly open for the very first time, though we remind everyone that the fixture will be a fully segregated game and that we operate a home supporter’s bar only policy.

Gates will open from 1.30pm and it’s always one of the highlights of our season when Notts County come to town.
