WOOD GO WEST IN SEARCH OF POINTS

19 February 2015

Weston Super Mare v Boreham Wood Match Preview

by John Mead.

A resurgent Seagulls outfit await Ian Allinson’s men this coming Saturday in North Somerset.

We last met at the end of November when 34 year old Ryan Northmore was appointed Caretaker Manager prior to the game. He has masterminded an amazing turnaround with his side currently joint top with new League leaders Bromley in the current form table.

The seeds of recovery were clear to see at Meadow Park, with his very young side playing some attractive football on the evening, unfortunately losing 4-0 on that occasion.

That result left them rooted to the foot of the table, yet they now find themselves ten points clear of the drop zone with games in hand.

The Seagulls currently occupy 16th spot with 34 points and three games in hand over us. Their current leading scorers are 23 year old midfielder Dayle Grubb, who has nine goals to his name, whilst 18 year old Bradley Ash has found the net six times.

Weston have just returned from Sutton United and Wealdstone with maximum points, preceding a draw with Eastbourne Borough and home wins against Chelmsford City and Sutton United. Their 2015 copy book has been blotted by a heavy home defeat at the hands of Hemel Hempstead and a 3-0 loss at Bath City, a side that are on fire at the moment.

As The Gaffer is well aware, “ There are no easy games in this League” and this Saturday is no exception. We currently occupy second spot and will be looking to stay right up there with the leaders. We travel on the back of a mini revival, recording two clean sheets and taking four points from our last two outings.

Wood fans are encouraged to make the trip to cheer on the lads to victory in what will be a tough and compelling encounter.

Saturday February 21st. Weston Super Mare v Boreham Wood, kick off 3pm.

Winterstoke Road, Weston Super Mare, North Somerset. BS24 9AA.
