With striker Junior Morias recalled from his loan spell at Whitehawk and the recent signings of defender Jack Connors from Dagenham and wide man/striker Danny Haynes from Ebbsfleet. Wood manager Luke Garrard declared “I’m happy with the depth of our squad, as we enter the last seven weeks of the season.. Like every other club, we have had one or two injuries to contend with of late, which is normal at this stage of the season. I believe that I now have a strong and versatile 20 man squad at my disposal and am thankful the Chairman has found a bit more for me in the budget”..

“I may need to strengthen in one area though in the next 10 days, as Sam Cox, who picked up a facial injury up at Southport and has been unfit since has now informed me, that after originally saying that he would NOT go.. he has changed his mind and now wishes to play for Guyana over the Easter period and will miss three of the most vital games in the clubs history”..

“That change of mind, no matter how you gloss it up, means he’s walking out of our relegation fight at a crucial time. That has more than disappointed the chairman, myself and the dressing room, as it’s clear Sam has put his own wants above that of his teammates and in my opinion, that is not the behaviour of my club captain”..

Garrard went on “We’re fighting for our lives, we need everyone committed, onboard and scrapping for this football club. We need to fight for people like our 12 supporters who travelled up to Barrow by minibus at 11am Tuesday morning and never got back until after 4am on Wednesday morning.. They missed two days work to support us, they don’t get paid like Sam does and that commitment obviously means a lot to the chairman, me and the players and why we must succeed”

Sam needs to understand that these are the people we need to fight and succeed for but at least we all now know where we stand. It also does bring an end to all the badge kissing. Its Sam’s choice and we need to plan without him, I know we will keep this club in this division with this squad and in regards to Sam’s future, I must do what’s right for Boreham Wood Football Club”.. He concluded.
