WOOD/ACCRINGTON DRAWN AT HOME TO CARDIFF CITY OR LEEDS UNITED

9 January 2023

Following Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup 3rd round 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley, the Club’s media team caught up with Wood Chairman Danny Hunter this morning, who was philosophical about the team’s chances of causing an upset in the replay…

Danny said, “I thought the game on Saturday was pretty flat first half and we conceded a very sloppy early goal.

“That said, the boys rallied well in the second half and gave our supporters something to shout about. In truth, the Wood Army responded fantastic to the team’s efforts and again we showed that in the FA Cup, we never know when we’re beaten…

“We also played it down but went into the game with just 15 fit players and no defenders on our bench, so hopefully we’ll have two or three back for the replay and Luke is confident we’ll be competitive. So, we’re not out of this tie by a long chalk and if we can get our fans up to Accrington in their numbers, then perhaps another underdog cup upset is possible.” Hunter concluded.

The winners of the replay between Boreham Wood and Accrington Stanley have been drawn at home to the winners of Cardiff City and Leeds United, who played out a 2-2 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium yesterday afternoon.
