WELCOME, JOHNNY GODDARD

24 May 2024

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Johnny Goddard, following the expiration of his contract with Slough Town. This marks Ross Jenkins’ first signing of the summer!

Last season, the 31-year-old had an impressive campaign, scoring 16 goals in the National League as a midfielder. His brilliant performances earned him an England C cap for the first time since 2016, playing alongside our club captain Jack Payne and vice-captain Nathan Ashmore.

Johnny began his career at Reading, progressing through their youth system before signing his first professional contract in 2011. After being released a year later, he spent a season at Hayes & Yeading United. He then joined National League club Woking in September 2013 after a successful trial period. Johnny became a fan favourite at Woking, scoring 25 goals in 116 league appearances while playing alongside our newly appointed assistant manager Mark Ricketts.

Goddard’s impressive performances at Woking earned him a move to EFL side Swindon Town, where he made 42 League One appearances, followed by 23 League Two appearances with Swindon Town and Stevenage.

He was loaned out to Bromley at the start of the 2018/19 season and then joined Aldershot Town on a six-month deal in January 2019. Goddard rejoined Woking in August 2020 for the 2020/21 season. Most recently, the attacking midfielder had stints at St Albans in 2021 before moving to Slough Town, where he made 86 appearances across two seasons.

We are thrilled to have you on board, Johnny. Welcome to Meadow Park!
