WELCOME BACK, KABONGO TSHIMANGA!

1 February 2024

Boreham Wood FC is thrilled to announce the homecoming of Kabongo Tshimanga to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium, Meadow Park, as he joins us on a short-term loan from Peterborough United.

Kabby, a prolific forward, previously graced Meadow Park from July 2019 to August 2021, making a lasting impact since his transfer from Oxford City in the National League South. During his two seasons with us, the club enjoyed great success, with Kabby spearheading the frontline through his remarkable goal-scoring exploits. In the 2019/20 season, his 19 league goals propelled Wood to the National League play-offs semi-final, an impressive journey that unfortunately concluded against eventual promotion winners, Harrogate Town.

Undeterred, Kabby resumed his goal-scoring prowess in the 2020/21 season, notching another 19 league goals. Despite a more mid-table position for Wood, he played a pivotal role in our historic advancement to the 3rd Round Proper of the FA Cup, marking a milestone in the club’s history.

These exceptional goal-scoring performances earned Kabby consecutive National League Team of the Season accolades, solidifying his talent not only in the eyes of Non-League pundits and fans but also among his peers in the footballing community.

In August 2021, Kabby made a move to Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee, where he continued his impressive goal-scoring form, netting 31 goals in 51 games. His remarkable 2021/22 campaign saw him score 24 goals in just 27 league games, further showcasing his prowess in front of goal.

Securing a transfer to League One side Peterborough United in January 2023, Kabby initially joined on loan before the deal became permanent in the summer. The 26-year-old spent the current season on loan at Fleetwood Town, amassing 14 appearances in League One.

Welcoming Kabby back to Meadow Park, manager Luke Garrard expressed his excitement, stating, “The business that the Chairman and Charlie have done to get this over the line is incredible, the hoops and red tape let alone the financial commitment shows how much we feel Kabby is a huge addition.”

“He has stats in the National League that have been great over the three seasons he was in it, with a goal return of 1 in 2. He needs no introduction and has relationships still within the current squad. That will only bode well with him getting accustomed to the group and hitting the ground running. He will go straight into the squad for Saturday and will be available for selection”

Welcome back, Kabby!
