PREVIEW

Boreham Wood’s Under 18’s welcome Maidenhead United to Meadow Park tomorrow evening, Tuesday 1st October, for their FA Youth Cup 2nd qualifying round match up, with an earlier kick off of 7pm.

Wood’s Under 18’s enter the game following back-to-back wins in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League and Brian Hitchins League Cup, against Luton Town Cedars 2-1 and Maccabi London Lions 4-1 respectively.

This is an interesting matchup as the two sides played each other at Under 19 level under a fortnight ago in the National League Football Academy, where Wood won 4-1 despite going a goal behind early on. So, it can be expected that some of the same players will be on show again tomorrow evening.

THE MANAGER SAID

Academy Manager Cameron Mawer commented on the game in his post-match interview following the Under 18’s victory against Maccabi London Lions on Thursday evening, “Obviously they’re [the Under 18’s] are all looking forward to the FA Youth Cup next week, we can’t hide that. It is their first opportunity to play on the First Team pitch and go into the First Team dressing room, they’re all things they’re very excited about. But hopefully we take that [excitement] and go and show another good performance.”
