MATCH PREVIEW: BERKHAMSTED VS BOREHAM WOOD

2 December 2013

It’s Herts Senior Cup time again and this year we travel up the A41 to meet newly formed Berko in the 2nd Round.

Wood fans will know the Broadwater ground well, it was the home of Berkhamsted Town before their demise. Berko’s manager Mick Vipond enjoyed a long association with Hemel Hempstead Town both as a player and a manager and has managed locally with amongst others Leverstock Green when we met the side previously in this competition.

Vipond accepted the job at the newly formed Berkhamsted in 2009 and immediately took them to two successive promotions through the Spartan South Midlands Leagues to their current position of third in the Premier Division.

They are enjoying massive success this season with some extremely impressive statistics. They have scored sixty goals already this season in the league, with leading scorer Connor Calcutt netting twenty six goals in all competitions. Their home form is formidable having lost just twice in fifteen games. Their recent shock 1-0 defeat away to Hullbridge Sports in the F A Vase was the first time since August 10th they have failed to score in a game ending a twenty five match run!

Wood Boss Ian Allinson has vowed to “ Go as strong as possible. There are a number of players who have not been starting regularly and they will all get a shirt number to get games into them. This is our last Cup and we will be looking to go all the way.”

Berkhamsted v Boreham Wood Tuesday December 3rd, kick off 7.45pm.
Broadwater, Lower Kings Road, Berkhamsted. HP4 2AL.
