LOAN EXTENSION: GEORGE BROADBENT

31 January 2023

Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the loan extension of midfielder George Broadbent from Sheffield United until the end of the season.

George arrived at Meadow Park in late September and made his debut just a day after signing in Wood’s 1-1 draw away to Yeovil Town. One-week later George made his full debut in front of the BT Sport cameras as we came from behind to beat Maidstone United 3-1, as George also opened his account in Wood shirt with the game’s winning goal.

George has been a mainstay in Luke Garrard’s side during his time at Meadow Park, making 22 total appearances to date, 21 in the starting line-up, scoring four goals. FA Cup goals against Wealdstone and Eastleigh, as well as that deflected goal against Bristol Rovers which was eventually awarded to Will Evans, helped Wood make Non-League FA Cup history becoming just the fourth Non-League side ever to reach the competition’s third round for the third consecutive season.

Upon capturing George’s signature until the end of the season, Wood Manager Luke Garrard said, “I’m really happy to have secured George for the remainder of the season. George has been very productive in his short spell at the Club, and we believe he can be a catalyst to us climbing the table.

“The loan extension also allows for George to remain settled and concentrate on playing football. He can now fully focus on the second half of the season and achieving the targets and goals I have set out for him personally.”

Great to have you with us, George!
