CLIFTON ARRIVES AT MEADOW PARK AHEAD OF STOCKPORT COUNTY CLASH

3 September 2021

Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the arrival of forward Adrian Clifton to Meadow Park.

Adrian joins the Wood with a wealth of non-league experience, having enjoyed spells with Romford, Waltham Forest, East Thurrock United, Maidenhead United, Havant & Waterlooville, Staines Town, Bromley and most recently Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 32-year-old striker began his youth career with Arsenal before spells at Norwich City and West Ham United. After leaving the latter, he dropped to the non-league to join Isthmian League Division One North side Romford ahead of the 2011/12 season, having impressed in a pre-season trial. After spending a season in East London, he joined Waltham Forest and took the captain’s armband where he played regularly throughout the season. Having declined several offers from teams in the Isthmian Division One North, he left Waltham to climb the ranks to the Isthmian Premier Division after just a season at Wadham Lodge.

East Thurrock United was his next destination where he spent a brief spell before leaving for the first of two stints with Maidenhead United. He helped the club lift their first Berks & Bucks Senior Cup in four years, scoring in the 4–0 final win over Aylesbury United.

Two successful seasons at York Road saw him make 71 appearances before departing for Havant & Waterlooville in the summer of 2015. This was short-lived however, owing to an injury that ruled him out for four months and was subsequently loaned to Staines Town on a one-month loan in February 2016, making four appearances before making the move permanent ahead of the 2016/17 season. A further 31 appearances for the Surrey-based outfit brought eight goals and a return to Maidenhead United at the end of the season. This was an extremely successful spell for the striker and it was during 2018/19 where he began to gain plaudits. He won all five awards at the Magpies’ end of season awards ceremony, winning Player of the Season from each of the players, manager and supporters, the Golden Boot with 15 goals in all competitions, as well as Goal of the Season. After a season at Bromley, he joined Dagenham & Redbridge last season but left Victoria Road at the expiry of his contract.

Adrian is available for selection to be included Garrard’s match day squad tomorrow as Wood face Stockport County in our eagerly anticipated Vanarama National League match up. Adrian will wear the number 14 shirt at Meadow Park.

Welcome to the Wood, Adrian!
