The workout was worthwhile for all concerned, as it gave much needed game time to certain first team squad players in, David Moli, Matty Parsons, Scott Thomas and Ryan Hope. While also giving our Elite Academy boys the chance to impress the watching first team manager Ian Allinson.

Jack VaseyAcademy captain Jack Vasey again impressed and got the all-important winner shortly after half time. Though perhaps the game itself should of been put to bed earlier, as Wood hit the post twice and created numerous chances.

‘Wood’ U/21 manager Gerrard Prenderville said “I was pleased with the work ethic and overall performance but we could of been more clinical in front of goal. However with the FA Youth Cup looming, the experience of a tense last 15 minutes was good experience for our youngsters, as they saw the game out well” He concluded..
