The Vanarama First Fortnight – Wood have so much more to give!

18 August 2019
League sponsors Vanarama have been busy assessing the season so far – and what’s ahead!

What’s the story so far?
If the Wood’s season so far was a school report it would read, ‘must do better.’ Luke Garrard’s side have taken five points from five games with their only win coming against Dagenham & Redbridge. However; there is still plenty more football to be played!
Inside view…
Luke Garrard didn’t sugar coat things for his side after going down to Sutton at the weekend. “We looked lacklustre and off the pace. We were second best,” he said following the result.
Meanwhile, chairman Danny Hunter has called their recent attendances at Meadow Park “laughable” and admitted he was “enormously upset” by the situation.
Biggest result…
You can’t often take much solace from a draw at home. But with 20 minutes to go, two goals down to Wrexham, the Wood kicked it into first gear and fought back to snatch a draw.
Who they couldn’t live without…
The forwards are stealing all the limelight at the moment. Kabongo Tshimanga is just as lethal despite being a league higher than last season. And his partner in crime Justin Shaibu is looking just as creative. Good times ahead?
Stat attack…
League position: 16th
Home goals for: 4
Away goals for: 4
Home goals against: 5
Away goals against: 2
Top scorer: Kabongo Tshimanga (4)
Who’s next?
If you’re looking to bounce back from a win, Bromley is perhaps not the place you want to be going at the moment. The Ravens have started like a house on fire with only Solihull Moors netting more goals than them in the opening two weeks.
Do your homework on…
Where do you start? Michael Cheek is looking in fine form in front of goal – but then so is Reeco Hackett-Fairchild. The list goes on as to who could be the danger man. It really is a team effort!
Recent record…
Boreham Wood will take confidence from recent meetings between the pair, winning both encounters last season. Will it be the same story on Saturday?
League sponsors Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Mototama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback!
