RIZA AND HUTTON DEPART

21 January 2013

It is with regret that Boreham Wood can announce today the departure of striker Omer Riza. We would like to thank Omer for his services over the last 10 months and wish him well in the future.

As a way of explaining the clubs and players decision to our supporters, it was made with both the parties interests considered. Omer was, as is well known, the highest paid player currently at the Club and had not in recent months been a guaranteed starter and this proved problematic.

The Club has recently further strengthened its attack, by signing Michael Thalassitis, Loick Pires and Lewis Toomey. All three are all young, hungry, talented and hardworking strikers, as such Omer may have spent more time than he wished on the bench.

At this time in his career and on the wages he received that was not deemed as ideal for either party.

With our attacking options looking very healthy and now in the hands of Michael Thalassitis, Loick Pires, Lewis Toomey, Cliff Akurang, Mauro Vilhete and youngster Rob Hastings, the Club hopes and believes its strength in this department will be demonstrated in the coming weeks.

Also departing the club is wideman David Hutton, unfortunately for David, with Mario Noto and Luke Garrard now fit and with Graeme Montgomery, Greg Morgan and Mauro Vilhete also fighting for the wide positions. It was felt that David would also get limited game time and that was not fair on a player of his ability.

Unfortunately when you are striving for success and have as strong a Squad, as we presently possess, not everyone can be included in the 16 match day Squad. As such tough decisions have to be made for the benefit of all concerned.

The Club has thanked both players for their service and wishes them both good luck in the future.
