RETURN TO PASE – UPDATE

1 January 1970

As we re-look at the site wide policies and procedures, along with the Government’s newly announced road map to recovery, we at The BW PASE Academy are excited to announce that as of Monday 15th March non-contact training will resume for all students currently in the PASE sceme.

It is essential that wherever possible we mitigate risk and with the recent National lockdown we have reviewed all procedures and protocols again to ensure that we reduce the risk of coronavirus to all site users and make sure we are a COVID secure site. We realise the risk cannot be zero, but we do believe that we have one of, if not the safest football education sites around.

A lot of time, energy and money has gone in to implementing these procedures and the key principals applied at all times; 2 metre social distancing or 1m+ with risk mitigation, good hand hygiene, robust cleaning procedures, the wearing of face masks/face coverings at all times except when eating or drinking and when taking part in training sessions and good communication with everyone on site so every group is aware of any issues immediately that might impact them and any site updates.

Additionaly all staff have been tested twice a week for the three weeks prior to the PASE Return and wll continue to be tested as will all students. These lateral flow tests have been put in place to enforce the health and safety measures as well as a fogger that has been purchased for the club and has been implemendted into the faily cleaning on site.

We are still operating our minibus service from Wood Street for students to attend the site and sessions and we have invested in screens for the buses to add an extra layer of safety to every bus. All students must also socially distance on the bus, face away from one another. wear a face mask or face covering, load from the back to the front and offload front to back and a log of all trips is recorded.

Our new and adapted training schedule during this period we will be able to accommodate a greater number of boys in smaller sessions to increase the safety of those participating in the non-contact training sessions. Each session will take place on a different pitch or area with a maximum number of 12 trainers + staff. All equipment is disinfected between sessions and there is no sharing between the pitches during a session. As these sessions are non contact they will focus on the technical aspects of the game as well as health and fitness of the player, to help ease players into a return to match fitness from having a prolonged amount of time off from their daily traiing sessions.

As well as the football-based sessions we will continue the fitness sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with former PASE Academy student Charlie Wickham. These will take place within the stadium on the large concourse in front of the North Stand to enable social distancing at all times and a safe space for players to work out. The students have reacted really well to Charlie and these sessions before with many are attending multiple sessions a week.
