It is with much regret that the Club have to announce the death of Micky Lennon, former player and manager of the Club. Micky died yesterday after a recurrence of various illnesses he had suffered from in recent years.

Micky was an outstanding player for the club for many years in the 60’s and 70’s and was appointed club manager on October 30th 1975. He held the post until October 1981, a very successful period in the club’s history.

In 1976/77 we won the Isthmian League Division Two championship by a record 16 points.

Poignantly, on today of all days, when we have our FA Cup match at Canvey Island this evening, one of Micky’s biggest achievements was leading us to a highly creditable draw with Swindon Town in the FA Cup 1st Round in November 1977.

A full tribute to Micky will appear in our next match day programme on Saturday 12th December for the Aldershot Town game.

In the meantime, Chairman Danny Hunter and all at the club would like to send our sincere condolences to Micky’s family.
