Boreham Wood 2-1 East Berkshire

Oaklands Boreham Wood was victorious in a hard fought game against East Berkshire.  With both sides progressing through to the last 32 of the national cup, it was made for a tight encounter. 

Oaklands Boreham Wood started sharp with an opening in the first minute, for Kevin Adewenmi only to be denied by the post.

Both sides had good spells in the game and were very entertaining to watch.

East Berkshire soon took the lead from the spot, after Michael Adeyemi was alleged to have handled in the box, berks skipper coolly slotted the pen to give the away team the lead.

Boreham Wood soon rallied and came back with an instant response, inform first year Kevin Adewenmi was able to beat the offside trap and slot past the advancing goalie.

Wood came out the blocks second half, pressing high up the pitch and slowly gaining the advantage in this tight affair, Wood made two substitutions to influence on the final result after both Domonic Winter and Abdul Marong combined to allow Abdul to roll his man and slide his effort into the bottom right hand corner.

Wood looked the likeliest to score the next, but for the opposition goalkeeper along with the woodwork to deny the third for the home side.

Manager Luke Garrard was happy with his sides performance “ We had many first years in the side today, and they were able to hold their own, on another day Kev could of had 6, but as long as he keeps finding himself in those positions than I will not moan.  Oaklands Boreham Wood next fixture is in the National Cup & weawait the draw of the Quarter Finals to see who we face out of Gateshead (Reg) or Hartpury (Reg), we will look forward to the test and look to progress even further in the National Cup.”
