1991446_w2Over the past 5 years our Academy has produced a number of players who have progressed into the professional game, namely Pelly Ruddock (West Ham United and Luton Town), Matthew Whichelow (Watford), Lee Hodson (Watford and MK Dons – pictured left with Ballon D’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Northern Ireland against Portugal), Calaum Jahraldo-Martin (Hull City) and Kyle Vassell (Peterborough United).

In addition, we have placed or loaned loan out a number of players within the Non-League pyramid, who are now paid to play their football within the Non-League game at Step 5 or higher.

ECFAOur Academy set up over the past 5 years been endorsed by England Schools and Colleges selectors, who have chosen 12 of our boys to represent their country at Under 16, 18 and 19 levels (Pictured right – 3 Academy players after representing English College’s). These boys have in truth fulfilled their childhood dreams, playing for their country against others nations in International competition.

It’s credit to Boreham Wood FC, that our trialing system, our investment programme, our coaches and of course the Attitude, Discipline and Desire of our players, who work so hard to improve, has resulted in their success that has allowed them to represent their Country on a National level.

Our coaches have a wealth of experience both with young Academy players within the Professional and Non-League structure. Our coaches have come through Academy set-ups themselves and all have experienced playing Professional football before joining us to develop our young players.

Our coaching line-up includes; Luke Garrard (ex-Swindon Town and AFC Wimbledon), Cameron Mawer (ex-Watford), Ricky Shakes (ex-Bolton Wanderers, Swindon Town and Brentford), Ryan Hope (ex-Watford), Matt Ball (ex-Norwich City and Stevenage) and Matthew Whichelow (ex-Watford).

Furthermore at BWFC we take great pride in the well being of all of our young players. We have 2 full-time medical staff, that look after the injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programmes of all our players. As well running with a team of part-time medical staff who assist us on match days.
