Boreham Wood Football Club and Cohenel College Announce New 3 year contract

Boreham Wood Football Club wish to announce, that after a very successful sports and education partnership with Oaklands College that has lasted over 6 years. Both parties have mutually agreed to cancel the remainder of their agreement which will come into effect on June 30th 2011.

The decision for Oaklands College to close much of its Borehamwood campus in Elstree Way, played a part in the Clubs thinking. As it meant the moving of many of the BWFC PASE students to Oaklands Smallford Campus. As such it was felt by both parties, that an amicable parting of the ways was in everyone’s best interests.

Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter said “it was not an easy decision as it has been an absolute pleasure to partner both the Principle Mark Dawe and the College for so many years. I have nothing but great memories and we have many achievements to savour on a sporting front during our time together”.

“With Oaklands relocation, now is the right time for us to part company as the placing of various courses away from Borehamwood to St Albans, was logistically just too far for many of our students to travel”.

“However I’m thrilled to announce that on July 1st, 2011. Boreham Wood Football Club, will operate with a brand new 3 year contract and venture with Cohenel College. This is fantastic news for our club and means we will continue our investment to see our PASE Scheme continue to improve and move forward. We are determined to maintain the huge progress we have made on the education and football fronts”.

“This contract will ensure we can once again provide our boys with top class facilities, top class coaching, top class physio & medical services. We will also provide a transport structure between our coaching sites and create football opportunities for our students through our contacts in the game. Our reputation at U19 level is well documented and our structure is tried and tested. Many of our boys have received International recognition over the last 3 years, reached National Cup Finals and won Scholarships to America”.

“We can through Cohenel College and our other education partner Verulam School, offer our students a fantastic education choice of A-Levels, B-Tec’s, Construction or CYQ personal trainer courses, that can lead them to University, work placements or even to America on a scholarship, while continually developing them as players”.

“I am very grateful for the ongoing support of our local Council, our Borough Council, our Main Sponsors Cardif Pinnacle and the support of the people of this town, as we strive to give life changing opportunities to all our PASE Students” Hunter concluded.
