It was a frustrating evening for both sides but in particular the Wood who had the lion share of possession and the best of the very little chances created, however it wasn’t meant to be, and the match finished in a stalemate.
The Wood started the game the brighter of the two sides and dominated the ball in the midfield during the early stages of the first half, but just like in recent games, we failed to create many clear cut chances in the final third.
Without any real chances of note, it was Wood’s left wing back Femi Ilesanmi who was the main threat for the Wood during the first half as he managed to beat his man on several occasions, but nobody could get on the end of his inviting crosses.

After the half time interval, it was the Wood who started the second half with more intent and they again dominated and ball, which penned the Aldershot Town defence in their own half for the early proceedings of the second half, however Wood couldn’t capitalise on their pressure.
Wood’s best goalscoring opportunity of the evening came from vice-captain Tom Champion, who rose above everyone at a Wood corner, delivered by Sorba Thomas, and his redirected header seemed destined for the top right hand corner of the Shots goal, only to be agonisingly denied by the woodwork. A real let off for the Shots.
As the game progressed, Ilesanmi continued to be a threat down Wood’s left hand side and managed to find further joy down causing Robbie Tinkler several problems. However after a string of petulant fouls, it wasn’t long before one of Tinkler’s many fouls on the Wood’s attacking wing-back was worthy of a yellow card which eventually came in the 65th minute.
In the 68th minute, Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong made way for the Shots top scorer Ethan Chislett in attempt to spark some life into the away side’s midfield.
Jack Powell had the best chance of the second half for the visitors when his right-footed chip on the half volley met the top side of cross bar.
The last ten minutes saw a flurry of chances as the home side attempted to grab a late winner, including a goalmouth scramble and ruckus, which eventually saw both Mullings (Aldershot Town) and Fyfield enter the ref’s book.
The most notable goal scoring opportunity late in the game came from Tyrone Marsh, as he managed to find himself alone in the box but couldn’t keep his free header down after being expertly picked out from a Keiran Murtagh cross, heading over the bar from close range.
