A last-minute winner from Tyrone Marsh sealed the victory for Luke Garrard’s men in a game which ended 1-0 to the home side. The win sent Boreham Wood into the top half of the table as they look ahead to Tuesday night’s away fixture to 5th place Barrow.
Both sides struggled to create opportunities in the final third and the game looked to stay goalless until Marsh’s 94th minute strike clinched all three points for the home side.
Boreham Wood started the game brightly managing to find space out wide through Piero Mingoia and Femi Ilesanmi causing a threat to the Solihull Moors back line.
It took 12 minutes before the in form Wood attack linked up well, playing the ball intricately around the chasing Solihull players, resulting many last ditched tackles leading to several corners, but they led to nothing.
Against the run-of-play, Solihull Moors had their first shot on target through Yussuf which forced a good save from Nathan Ashmore down to his left-hand side, the new signings first call into action in a Wood shirt.
Solihull saw another chance pondered in the 35th minute after a long ball into the box found the head of the target man Danny Wright, who headed across the face of goal but Yussuf couldn’t get on the end of it.

Wood started the second half the same way they began the first, trying to get in behind the Solihull back line, but again no definitive goal scoring chances being created.
However, as time progressed, Wood started to gain possession in the final-third, but the Solihull defence remained disciplined.
Good pressure from the Wood saw some chances starting to be created on goal, the notable effort being from Tshimanga whose snapshot was smartly saved by Ryan Boot down to his right-hand side.
Another scrappy period of play saw a number of fouls being committed, which led to stand in captain Tom Champion being booked. This was Champions 5th booking of the season, meaning he will miss Tuesday night’s long trip to in form Barrow.
Despite Wood’s dominance, it started to feel like no matter what they threw at Solihull, they wouldn’t be able to unlock the visitors defence. This was exemplified when Ilesanmi used his pace well to drive into the Solihull half but was brought down on the edge of area. The resulting free kick saw a thumping effort come off the bar from Adam McDonnell, which was just inches away from creeping in underneath the Solihull bar.
Just when they game seemed over and that it would finish a stalemate, in the 92nd minute a Sorba Thomas’ free kick met the head of a Solihull defender leading to a corner for the home side. The resulting corner, taken by Adam McDonnell, was deliverd to the back post but redirected by Stephens back across goal and fell at the feet of Tyrone Marsh. Marsh span quickly and took a right-footed effort, which fired into the near corner and the North Bank erupted. 1-0 to the Wood.
Marsh’s strike was one of the last touches of the game with the referee Gary Parsons blowing for full-time nearly straight away after the restart.
