FIVE STAR WOOD

Kings Langley vs. Boreham Wood
Saturday 31st July 2021, 3.00pm
The Orbital Fasteners SStadium, Pre Season Friendly

It was another straightforward victory for Boreham Wood against Southern Premier League South side Kings Langley when goals from Kabs Tshimanga, Jamal Fyfield, Tyrone Marsh, Gus Mafuta and David Stephens confirmed a 5-0 win.

Boreham Wood came out of the blocks straight away in a first half that was played almost entirely in the home side’s half. Kabs Tshimanga got his usual early goal when he tapped in a David Stephens pass to give Wood the lead on eight minutes. Last season’s top scorer could have extended Boreham Wood’s lead on sixteen minutes but his effort was deflected out for a corner. Will Evans then had a shot blocked on the line. On twenty-eight minutes Jamal Fyfield doubled the away side’s lead when Tshimanga’s shot was initial saved by Langley keeper Alfie Marriott enabling the centre half to follow up for his second goal in consecutive away games. On thirty-six minutes, some excellent interplay between Fyfield and Tshimanga created an opening for Fyfield but he tried to find another pass when he should have shot. Fyfield could have been on the scoresheet a few minutes later but he headed over when well placed. Just before half time, Tyrone Marsh had a shot from a distance that whistled past Marriott’s goals.

Wood came out the second half in equally impressive form. Five minutes after the restart, Tshiminga was one on one with the keeper Marriott who produced an impressive save to deny the striker. Two minutes later Connor Smith blazed his shot over the bar. On fifty-four minutes, a Kane Smith cross was converted by Gus Mafuta to make it 3-0. Sixteen minutes later, a fantastic run and cross from Kane Smith was this time finished by Marsh for the fourth. Straight away, Dave Stephens rounded off the scoring with Boreham Wood’s fifth.

It was a strong performance from Boreham Wood against their Hertfordshire rivals and it was nice to see the side play with confidence and score goals as the pre-season preparations reach the final stages.
