MATCH REPORT: CHESTERFIELD (A)

Luke Garrard made three changes to his starting line-up following last Saturday’s defeat against Altrincham with Billy Sass-Davies coming in for the suspended Chris Bush at centre back, Cameron Coxe replacing Erico Sousa at right wing back and Tom Whelan starting in place of Angelo Balanta in midfield.

Predictably the hosts started on the front foot and the early play was very much in Boreham Wood’s half. On eight minutes Michael Jacobs forced Nathan Ashmore into a save and Liam Mandeville was off target with the follow up. Two minutes later, Tom Whelan’s free kick was well saved by Spireites keeper Harry Tyrer. The hosts took the lead on twenty-eight minutes when a Mandeville corner was headed in by Spireites skipper Jamie Grimes with the Wood defence ball watching. The hosts continued to dominate possession and Amando Dobra fired straight at Ashmore on forty-two minutes. Just before the break, Lee Ndlovu had a chance but his poorly hit shot was easily gathered by Tyrer.

HALF TIME: CHESTERFIELD 1-0 BOREHAM WOOD

No sooner had the second half started, Chesterfield doubled their lead when a Dobra cross was finished well by Mandeville, giving Ashmore no chance. Two minutes later Boreham Wood had a guilt edged chance to pull one back when Kabs Tshimanga laid on a plate for Lee Ndlovu but he fired over when well placed. On fifty-five minutes a Jeff King shot went just wide for the Spireites. On sixty-eight minutes, the hosts added a third when an excellent run and pass from Dobra, meant Grimes only had a tap in. This was Chesterfield’s 100^th league goal of the season. Two minutes later, Dobra went close to adding a fourth but was just off target. The last part of the match was again controlled by the host.
