Form Guide

Boreham Wood continued their impressive campaign, with a 2-1 victory over AFC Fylde in the National League play-offs.

The victory takes the Wood into the semi-finals of the competition, where they will now face Sutton United.

Jamie Turley opened the scoring in just the fifth minute from a corner, continuing the Wood’s trend of starting quickly.

Bruno Andrade then doubled their lead before the 20th minute, when he looped a header over goalkeeper Jay Lynch.

Fylde pulled a goal back through Simon Grand, but the home side showed a defensive dominance and assertiveness to retain their lead and hold on for the win.

Managed by 51-year-old Paul Doswell, Sutton United confirmed a third placed finished in the National League, with a final day victory over Aldershot Town.

The U’s have won two of their last five matches, losing twice and drawing once.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“We have had the lads in today, they have done a little bit of recovery work, but not much in terms of a load on them. We fully expect them to come in tomorrow, raring to go for Sunday.

“We have watched a couple of Sutton’s games back today. We have got to watch their set-plays, the manner in which they go about their business, their threats and their weaknesses and that will very much be the bulk of tomorrow’s session.

“They are a good team and they have got great experience, very good experience. Their skipper in Jamie Collins, they have got Nicky Bailey, Kenny Davis, Craig Eastmond, Ross Lafayette and Craig Dundas.

“They have got men in their team and they have got an idea and a way of playing that means they don’t take many risks at the back. They go back to front, they pick up pieces and they break with pace.

“They have got a few weaknesses that we feel we can exploit and that is for us to hone in on tomorrow and again on Sunday.

“The boys know the job in hand and they know what is at stake – the opportunity to play at Wembley.

“Like I said last night, we are just 90 minutes, 120 minutes, potentially penalties away from playing at Wembley.

“It is a dream of mine and a dream of the dressing rooms and if we can achieve it, then it would be some achievement.”
