Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s men host relegation-threatened Salisbury in the Vanarama National League South, with kick-off at 15:00.
Last Season for the Whites
Last campaign was a historic one for the Whites, as they earned promotion to the sixth tier through the Southern League Premier South play-offs. After finishing third in the table, they defeated Gosport Borough and AFC Totton to secure their place in the Vanarama National League South.
Form Guide
After a run of just one win in ten, Salisbury’s form has picked up in recent weeks. They currently sit 12th in the form guide, with two wins, two draws and two losses from their last six matches. Brian Dutton’s side will be full of confidence going into tomorrow’s clash, having gone unbeaten in their previous three games.
In their last outing, Salisbury defeated mid-table Tonbridge Angels at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium. The Whites got off to a flying start, taking the lead through Dan Fitchett’s ninth-minute goal. Although the Angels pushed for an equaliser, Salisbury stood firm and doubled their lead late on courtesy of an 86th-minute strike from Ronan Silva.
Last Time We Met
The Wood fell to a shock 2–1 defeat away at Salisbury, despite taking a first-half lead through an Erico Sousa penalty. The visitors controlled much of the early play and went ahead on 38 minutes after Lee Ndlovu was brought down in the box and Sousa converted from the spot. However, Salisbury hit back quickly after the break, with Craig Fasanmade finishing well to equalise just two minutes into the second half. The hosts continued to press and deservedly went ahead in the 71st minute when Ronan Silva scored from close range. Although the Wood pushed for a late equaliser, the Whites held on to claim all three points.
One to Watch
Salisbury midfielder Callum Watts will be one to watch tomorrow afternoon. Salisbury’s number eight has impressed since joining the club in October 2024, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in the Vanarama National League South this season. He’s played a key role in their recent upturn in form, contributing four goal involvements in their last four outings.
The Wood
The Wood will be hoping to return to winning ways after a poor run of form has seen us drop to seventh in the league. Following back-to-back victories against Aveley and Farnborough, Luke Garrard’s side have lost the last three matches, including defeats to play-off rivals Dorking Wanderers and Maidstone United. While the title now appears out of reach, the aim is to finish the season strongly and build momentum for a successful play-off campaign.
Our most recent outing saw us on the wrong end of a 4–0 score line away at promotion rivals Maidstone United. A nightmare first half left us 3–0 down, following a brace from Sol Wanjau-Smith and a late Ben Brookes penalty. The second half brought no change in momentum, as George Fowler added a fourth in the 66th minute to complete a difficult afternoon for the Wood.
