MATCH PREVIEW – POTTERS BAR TOWN (A)

26 July 2022

Potters Bar Town vs Boreham Wood
Tuesday 26th July 2022, 7.30pm
The Lantern Stadium, Pre-Season Friendly

THE CONTEXT

With pre-season drawing to a close the Wood’s penultimate friendly sees them make the short journey to Kingfield where they will take on Isthmian League Premier Division side Potters Bar Town.

The Scholars have a completely even record in pre-season so far, with a draw at Bedfont Sports being followed up with a shock win against Leyton Orient and a defeat at the hands of Maidenhead United.

Wood came from two behind to draw at Dartford last time out and will be looking to make it three on the spin without defeat, as they look to build momentum going into the new season at the start of August.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

“THE DESTROYER”
LEWIS MANOR

Although a striker by trade, Lewis Manor has all the qualities to be labelled as a destroyer due to his physical presence. A new signing for Potters Bar Town, the 30-year old impressed for former side Bowers & Pitsea particularly in his final season at the club, where he netted more than 20 goals to help the Bowers avoid relegation to the Isthmian League North Division as well as an fantastic FA Cup run that saw them reach the First Round Proper, where they were eliminated by League One side Lincoln City.

“THE PLAYMAKER”
TYLER CHRISTIAN-LAW

Experienced midfielder Tyler Christian-Law has featured at a high level of non-league football and has brought his wealth of knowledge to Parkfield with his leadership ability, vision and reading of the game. Beginning his career at Burnham, he would find himself on the move regularly with spells at Margate, Wingate & Finchley, Romford, Hanwell Town and Wealdstone, eventually settling at Hanwell for two seasons after returning to the Powerday Stadium ahead of the 2016/17 campaign. A switch to North Greenford United preceded a jump up the divisions when he signed for National League South side Braintree Town, scoring twice in 17 appearances for the Iron during a difficult 2019/20 season. He would depart following a 22nd place finish with stints at Leiston and Enfield Borough, before moving to Potters Bar Town this summer.

“THE FINISHER”
JOE BOACHIE

One of the most dynamic and exciting forwards currently plying their trade in the non-league, Joe Boachie initially arrived at Potters Bar Town on a dual contract agreement with Concord Rangers where he quickly became a fan favourite and has impressed during his time with the Scholars. Beginning his career at Dagenham & Redbridge, the 24-year old featured for Grays Athletic before starring at Loughborough University and Stamford AFC where he caught the eye playing anywhere in attack, with his versatility allowing him to use his intelligence, creativity, athleticism, physicality and technique to be deployed as a striker, attacking midfielder or as a winger. His performances in the non-league saw him invited to a trial by Championship side Birmingham City along with other Football League clubs showing interest, before injury halted his progress. He has continued his development nonetheless, and has a strong work ethic along with an ability to operate between the lines where he can drop deep and run at defences or play through balls to open up opponents. He always gets in the right positions to score and is highly rated at Potters Bar.
