Match preview: Felixstowe & Walton United (H)

15 November 2024

The Wood open their Isuzu FA Trophy campaign tomorrow at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium, hosting a side the club have never faced in Felixstowe & Walton United, kicking off at 15:00.

Last season for the Seasiders

Felixstowe & Walton 2023/24 Isthmian League North campaign ended in a third-place finish, ultimately seeing the Seasiders reach the play-off semi-final. However, they came up short in the end against Bowers & Pitsea. After the clash finished all square after extra time, the Seasiders lost 4-2 on penalties.

Form guide

The Seasiders currently occupy third place in the Isthmian League North Division, having won their last five matches. This run started in the first round of the Isuzu FA Trophy, where they thrashed to Bishops Stortford 6-1. Up next was the quarter final in the Suffolk Premier Cup, another game in which Felixstowe made light work of their opponents, winning 5-1 against Brantham Athletic.

Stuart Boardley’s men hosted Brentwood in the league next, a tightly contested game in which the hosts came away with 2-1 win. Another well-earned victory at home followed, as the Seasiders put two goals past Cambridge City. Finally, Stuart Boardley’s men faced Redbridge three days later, managing to sweep their opponents aside with a 4-0 thumping.

One to watch

Charlie Warren has certainly been a handful for defenders of late, scoring 20 goals in all competitions this season. This includes a hattrick for the forward on the opening day of the season, coming at the expense of Newmarket Town.

The Wood

It’s been a very up and down last five matches for the Wood. Luke Garrard’s men got back to winning ways on Wednesday evening in a 1-0 victory over Truro City, caming after a painful 1-0 defeat away to Aveley last Saturday. However, the Wood did manage to secure the three points at home to Farnborough prior to that, with goals from Tyrone Marsh, Junior Dixon and Charles Clayden.

Preceding our win at home to Boro, Luke Garrard’s men put up a great fight against Leyton Orient in the First Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup, but the League One side eventually claimed victory on penalties. We weren’t able to take anything away from Eastbourne Borough the week prior, as the Sports scored two second half goals to win the game 2-1.
