Match preview: Enfield (A)

19 November 2024

The Wood open their Herts Senior Cup campaign tomorrow evening with a trip to face Enfield at Hertingfordbury Park, kicking off at 19:45.

Last season for the E’s

It was a season to forget last year for Enfield, as they finished 18th in the Isthmian North. During the season, they lost 13 games, won four and drew one.

Form guide

Enfield occupy 13th spot in the Southern League Division One Central going into this match. Jamie Cureton’s side made the trip to Ware. However, they came home empty handed, losing 2-1. They would then face Biggleswade in a tightly contested match where Enfield’s Edgeworth scored right at the death in the 96th minute.

League leaders Real Bedford visited Enfield next, where the hosts ended up losing 3-1. Up next, Enfield hosted Berkhamsted at home, where neither side found a winner with the game ending 2-2. Finally, in their previous outing, the E’s suffered 3-1 defeat away to Kidlington

The Wood

It’s now three wins in five matches in all competitions for the Wood. Luke Garrard’s men progressed to the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, as they beat Felixstowe & Walton at home on penalties. Before this came a 1-0 victory at home to Truro City, redemption from a 1-0 defeat to Aveley a few days prior.

An own goal from Taylor Clark as well as goals from Junior Dixon and Charles Clayden secured an impressive win over Farnborough FC at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium. Finally, the Wood put up a great fight against Leyton Orient in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, but the League One side ultimately claimed victory on penalties.
