Wood head off to North Wales for the second time in three weeks this weekend to visit the Deva Stadium, home of fans owned club Chester. The stadium, which geographically lies just over the Welsh border in Flintshire is one that Wood have never before had the privilege of visiting.

The two sides met for the first time ever earlier on this season, the result a 0-0 draw on an afternoon of few chances. Recently the side managed by Steve Burr have lost some momentum, taking just one point form their last four matches. That came courtesy of a late equaliser in a 3-3 draw at Guiseley on Easter Monday, in a crazy game where four goals were scored in the last ten minutes. However, bonkers is a better word to describe the last win the Blues recorded at the Deva Stadium, when Aldershot Town were on the end of an 8-2 thrashing!

James Alabi, the on loan forward from Ipswich Town hit four first half goals to leave Non League fans questioning the integrity of the BBC website’s news that Chester were 6-1 up at the interval!

Top scoring Ross Hannah, who signed from Grimsby Town at the start of the season has twenty goals to his name so far, two of those coming in the second half against Aldershot.

Chester also have 22 year old central defender Ben Heneghan who has recently returned from England C duty in Ukraine. Steve Burr has also in the last weeks acquired the services of defender Ben Barber who joined on loan from Stoke City until the end of the season.

Wood travel on the back of their best performance in the National League, the 3-0 win against Dover Athletic lifting them to within four points of Chester. It promises to be another afternoon of high drama with so much at stake and with cut price travel available to supporters, Wood Manager Luke Garrard is hoping as many of the travelling Wood army can make the effort to get behind his side in this most crucial of encounters.
