Form Guide

The Wood lost in successive matches for just the second time this season on Tuesday, when they fell to a 2-0 defeat against league leaders Macclesfield Town.

Despite the Wood enjoying their fair share of chances, a brace from Tyrone Marsh sealed the victory.

Luke Garrard has since called on his squad to react and praised the quality of training today.

The Wood remain in the play-offs, in sixth place, and sit just four points off second placed Tranmere Rovers.

Marcus Bignot was relieved of his duties as Chester manager on Wednesday afternoon, having lost four of his last five matches.

Academy Head Coach Calum McIntyre was placed in charge of the Blues until the end of the season, despite being just 24-years-old.

Chester, who have already been relegated from the National League, won 3-2 last time out against Bromley.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“They have brought in Calum McIntyre, who I can imagine is going to bring in an energy in terms of a new face, with new ideas. But, they are down, they have been relegated and they know their fate.

“Watching their game against Bromley, where they already knew their fate, they were playing with no fear and a freedom.

“It brings a different sort of test, it is different to playing the likes of Wrexham, Aldershot or Tranmere, where you are fighting for points to get into the play-offs.

“They will come here with the shackles off and it is for us to do what we do and go about our business.

“Any bit of positivity will help them and galvanise their fans. They are a fan base run club, so I can imagine that the ideas of the new manager will be about getting as many positive thoughts in-and-around the club as possible.

“They have got good personnel in their ranks, but like I say week-in-week-out, it is about what we do.

“We are on the back of two losses now and the last time we done that, we went on an unbeaten run of 15 odd games.

“For us it is about a reaction and hopefully we can repeat that.
