THE CONTEXT
On Tuesday, Wood match up against 10th place Bromley in the Vanarama National League at Hayes Lane.
On their last time out, the Ravens impressively beat Wood’s local rivals Barnet 3-1 away from home in the league.
Whereas Wood came away from Plainmoor with a hard-earned point after a 1-1 draw with league leaders Torquay United.

Wood travelled to Devon on Saturday and came back to Hertfordshire with a well-deserved point as we drew with table toppers Torquay United 1-1 at Plainmoor.
With midfield trio Mark Ricketts, Keiran Murtagh and Corey Whitely side-lined due to injury, there was again a place in the starting XI for Adam McDonnell, who was one of the standout performers for the Wood battling it out in the heart of Wood’s midfield.
Despite a bright start to the game by the Wood, our hosts took the lead after 16-minutes played against the run of play as Sam Sheering headed well past Nathan Ashmore.
However despite this setback, Wood continued to mount pressure on the Gull’s back four and our continuous pressure resulted in a stroke of good fortune as Sorba Thomas went on a great run down the left-hand side and saw his cross deflected past Shaun MacDonald into the Gull’s net to make the score 1-1 at the interval.
Despite Wood playing the last 20 minutes with a one-man advantage after Adam Randell received his second yellow for the home side, we failed to capitalise in a scenario Wood Gaffer Luke Garrard referred to as “two points dropped rather than one point gained.”

After six games, Bromley sit 10th place in the Vanarama National League, two points ahead of the Wood but with a game in hand.
Heartbreak struck for the Ravens when they were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Yeovil Town as a Gabriel Rogers superb volley in the 120th minute meant the Glovers would progress into the Second Round.
Despite experiencing this misfortune, in their recent fixture the Raven’s bounced back in emphatic fashion, Bromley took the short trip across London to the Hive and put three past a strong Barnet side to take all three points back to Kent with them.

“THE DESTROYER”
JOE KIZZI
Kizzi started his youth career with Ridgeway Rovers, the youth side that also produced talents such as David Beckham, Andros Townsend and Harry Kane. Although his career never quite flourished in the same vain as those Premier League stars, Kizzi joined Eton Manor and later Enfield 1893 in the Essex Senior League for the first taste of men’s senior football.
In 2014, the defender signed for Isthmian North side Waltham Abbey prior to a switch to local rivals Cheshunt FC a season later. Kizzi impressed for Cheshunt and earned himself a move to Isthmian Premier side Wingate & Finchley.
The 25-year-old then moved to National League South side Billericay Town, then owned and manager by Glenn Tamplin, where he was named in the National League South Team of the Year during the 2018/19 campaign.
In May 2019, Kizzi signed a deal with Bromley despite other National League clubs showing interest and he has been ever-present in the starting XI since arriving at Hayes Lane.
“THE PLAYMAKER”
BILLY BINGHAM
Bingham started his career as a youth player at Crystal Palace, before signing a professional contract with Dagenham & Redbridge.
The central-midfielder made his professional debut for the Daggers in August 2009 during a 3-0 home win over Lincoln City. The Daggers were promoted to League One but unfortunately for Bingham, his game time was limited due to injury problems.
Bingham made over 100 appearances in the Football League over a six-year spell at Victoria Road before signing for Crewe Alexandra in 2015.
Despite featuring 51 times for Crewe across a two-year stint at the club, Bingham was released in 2017 which saw him make the move to League One side Gillingham.
The 30-year-old made 30 appearances for the Gills but was released at the end of the 2018/19 campaign which saw a move to current club Bromley where he has been a main stay since joining.

REECO HACKETT-FAIRCHILD
The 22-year-old spent his youth career with Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion before he signed his first professional contract with Dagenham & Redbridge in 2014.
During his time with the Daggers, Hackett-Fairchild spent a short period on loan at Dulwich Hamlet where he attracted attention from Charlton Athletic.
Hackett-Fairchild signed a deal with the Addicks and went on to make 24 first team appearances scoring twice in all competitions.
As some of the Wood faithful may remember, the young forward joined the Wood on short term loan deal from the Addicks during the 2018/19 campaign before spending another loan spell with the Ravens during that same season.
After impressing at Hayes Lane during his time on loan, the deal was made permanent during the summer of 2019.
The move proved to pay dividends for Reeco as he scored eight times in 25 appearances at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, which led to a move back into the Football League with League One outfit Portsmouth, who snapped up the young forward.
Hackett-Fairchild re-joined the Ravens for his third spell at Hayes Lane on loan at the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
