MATCH PREVIEW: BOREHAM WOOD VS ARSENAL XI

1 August 2014

by John Mead.

The Gunners return to Meadow Park for the second time this pre season when a mixture of U21 and U18 stars take on Ian’s side.

Arsenal, managed by Steve Gatting enjoyed a comfortable 1-5 victory against Harrow Borough last Saturday and will be keen to avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered last season at Meadow Park.

However that day the average age of the Gunners side was just eighteen and therefore Wood Boss Ian Allinson will not be resting on his laurels. It is expected that several of the First Team squad that played in front of 3400 fans a fortnight ago will be back! Julio Pleguezuelo a signing last year from Barcelona and Benik Afobe are sure to feature. Also likely to play will be Dan Crowley who was impressive enough last year, when he was just fifteen!

There will also be a welcome return for our Austin Lipman who caught the eye during his loan spell with us last season.

This is our last run out before the season begins on August 8th which means Ian will have his side drilled and raring to go! That said the quality of football that the Mighty Gunners produce, which is replicated throughout their various squads, will be a very stern test indeed and a high quality game is expected.

It is pay on the day and a large crowd is expected given the quality of opposition, so why not come out and enjoy an evening of football whilst trying out our superb new West Stand facility! You will not be disappointed!

**All Arsenal Season Ticket holders will receive HALF PRICE entry, on production of a valid Season Ticket**

Boreham Wood v Arsenal XI. Friday August 1st, kick off 7.30 pm
