MATCH PREVIEW: BOREHAM WOOD VS ALFRETON TOWN

13 January 2017
Preview

Wood have a break from National league action as they welcome Alfreton Town to Meadow Park in the Buildbase FA Trophy second round, with a place in the last 16 for the winners.

Alfreton beat Gainsborough Trinity 4-1 in a replay after the first game ended goalless, in the 3rd qualifying round before knocking out National League side North Ferriby United in first round proper.

In the league Alfreton are currently 16th, although they are the 3rd highest scorers in the division but there downfall seems to be the goals against column. So far they have shipped 62 goals from their 23 league games.

Luke Garrard will be fully aware that league form goes out the window in cup competitions and both sides will be wanting to continue the road to Wembley.

Alfreton’s best run in the competition came back in 2003/04 & 2004/05 season where they made the fourth round (quarter-finals), whilst Wood haven’t had a decent run in the competition since the history making semi final defeat to Woking in the 2005/06 season.

Though Wood’s own form will be buoyed following on from a first win in seven after a great result down at Torquay United.

Jason Williams looks to be Woods only casualty after picking up a slight hamstring injury following the trip to Torquay.

We hope the Town will turn out for this big game as Wood look to keep their road to Wembley dreams alive.
