The Wood return to National League action this Saturday, September 15 (3pm), when we welcome Barrow AFC to Meadow Park. Here’s our preview…
Match Details
Boreham Wood Football Club have now moved onto an online ticketing system and ticket details can be found HERE. Ticket prices are as follows: Adults £18; OAPS £13, under 16’s £8 and under 12’s £4 (subject to booking fee).
These prices are to sit or stand. The West and East stands are seated, and the North and South ends are standing.
We advise that all supporters planning to attend BWFC matches at Meadow Park, purchase tickets beforehand.
Once purchased, tickets are available to download to supporter’s phones, are accessible on the Ticket Arena app, and can also be printed at home and brought to the game for entry.
Tickets will still be available to purchase on the day of the game, but at an increased rate of £2.
For home supporters, cash payments will be available on the East Stand turnstile, and card payments in the Gallery Suite bar. Away supporters will also be able to purchase tickets on the away gate in the West Stand, with cash.
The match will be segregated, and the nearest public car park is stationed in Brook Road and adjacent to stadium.
Team News
Luke Garrard has no fresh injury concerns going into the game.
Ellery Balcombe has returned from international duty with the England Under 20s and will be available for selection.
Form Guide
The Wood made it three wins in their last four league matches, when they beat Chesterfield 1-0 at home over a week ago.
Since then, Garrard’s side have played in the Irn-Bru cup, where they only lost to Dunfermline Athletic on penalties.
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes, with Ryan Huddart remaining unbeaten in the Wood goal.
Boreham Wood are unbeaten on home turf this season and will be hoping to extend that against Barrow.
Managed by 36-year-old Ian Evatt, Barrow started the season in excellent form, with three wins from their first six matches.
They have however failed to win in their last four and currently lie in 15th place.
One to Watch – John Rooney
The younger brother of former Manchester United and England striker Wayne, John Rooney is perhaps the standout name in the Barrow squad.
However, he is not the standout purely through his last name. Rooney is the sides creator in chief and was key to their early season form.
The striker can count American teams New York Red Bulls and Orlando City amongst his former sides, having begun in the youth system at Macclesfield Town.
Rooney has also had spells in the Football League with Barnsley and Bury and has one goal to his name this season.

“It is nice that we have had a full week to work on Barrow, because it has been relentless in regards to Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday.
“If you look at the work that Ian Evatt done early on, in regards to his recruitment, I think that his summer signings were very positive.
“He has come in and settled the ship and he plays a very attractive style of football. They like to play, and they get the ball out from the back.
“They get two centre-halves who split in the box and play through the thirds with Jason Taylor, John Rooney and Luke Burgess, who rotate nicely in midfield.
“We have worked heavily on them this week. I have watched four games; the Salford, the Solihull, the Dagenham and the Hartlepool games and we have homed in on where their strengths are and where we feel their weaknesses are.
“We have implemented it in a session today, a tough session I have got to be honest, because they had Tuesday and Wednesday off.
“So, it was a tough session today to really work at where we are going to go, in terms of our game plan on Saturday.”
