HOPE, FAITH & CHARITY

9 December 2012

Without becoming too Cliché, it’s now time to totally concentrate on our league position. After a very disappointing exit to our final cup competition against Bromley in the Trophy.

The reason for our Cup exits, we’re glad to say were for football reasons only and not being good enough on the day.

Certainly it was not the pitch conditions, a refereeing decision or the like and as such it’s something we can deal with albeit through gritted teeth.

It is true to say without being over critical, that our best performer in the last few weeks has possibly been our Groundsman Daniel Hunter and his pitch.

Though match conditions have been cold and wet, nobody attending our games could of failed to be impressed by the state of the Meadow Park pitch and the amount of rainfall it has dealt with.

However if we are to turn what has been a promising league start into a play-off challenging season. Then the remainder of December and January will be a very crucial 6 weeks for us.

We’ve been on the road for 11 out of the last 14 Saturdays in both league and Cup and still sit in 4th place. So the good home league form we showed up to December, will certainly need to return and remain with us throughout the remainder of December and January.

It’s a fact that when we finally re-arrange the postponed Maidenhead home game, we will play 4 of our next 7 league games at Meadow Park, finishing that sequence here against Eastbourne on January 13th.

We bring that date to your attention for a number of reasons;

Firstly that this sequence will take us past the halfway stage of the season and will give us a true indication of where we are.

Secondly we are trying to improve our home support, by making a concerted community effort across the board to raise awareness of the club, what facilities we offer and to demonstrate that it is our wish to increase parents awareness regarding our FREE School Coaching Schemes and our FREE Primary School Season Tickets.

Thirdly we are asking all our supporters, all our Club staff and our Dressing room to help us try to rouse the town out of its apathy and to do that we literally need everyone to make an effort.

Whether that’s putting a fixture poster up, bringing a friend or family member to a game, taking non-driving supporters to away game, having a function at the club, hiring the astro pitch or choosing to use the club bar before and after a match.

Every penny you spend related to the club facilities, will certainly help us. Like you we are also disappointed with the levels of support that attend home games and we do not pretend to have the answers but if we don’t all try to do something about it then who will??

Through this club awareness campaign, we ultimately want to see an improvement in local sponsorship, an improvement in enthusiasm, an improvement in community participation and a facility in constant use. We don’t expect miracles and will not set unrealistic targets but a level of paying home support above 250 is achievable and would help enormously but in truth we are not holding our breath.

With the start of the New West Stand possibly looming in February. People’s efforts will certainly have a bearing on the Club Chairmans thinking and what will be made available to Ian Allinson and his budget come the New Year.

The Club is level headed and consistent in what it believes can be achieved but like the rest of us, is still very ambitious to reach the Conference National.

It has great faith in this squad and management team but for a play-off push to be maintained. We will need to strengthen in one or two areas and will need to see that the clubs ambition is mirrored by our Supporters, by Local business, by our Suppliers and by our loyal Sponsors.

We know we are certainly going to need more community based involvement. Whether that be local Schools, Colleges or local Football clubs. Whether your a member of staff at BWFC, a Supporter or somebody who wants to get more involved, a concerted effort by us all to improve things will cost nothing.

It will be the minimum requirement needed if we want to continue our progress and achieve the play offs.

So anybody interested in helping the club to raise local awareness on a consistent basis, or to Sponsor the club, anybody wishing to use or hire our facility. Should initially contact our Community manager Loretta Browne on 0208 953 5176 who will put you in touch with the relevant departments.

THANK YOU
