A second-half goal from Jason Prior was enough to give Dorking Wanderers all three points and consign Boreham Wood to their second league defeat in a row.

Luke Garrard made one change from last Saturday’s defeat at Weymouth, with Junior Dixon starting up front in place of Matt Rush, who dropped to the bench.

It was a lively opening, with both sides showing attacking intent. Tom Whelan fired wide after five minutes from outside the area. Straight away, Charlie Carter shot just wide for the visitors. Within a minute, Junior Dixon was just off target for Wood with a curling effort. On 12 minutes, an excellent strike from Kwesi Appiah was well saved by Wanderers keeper Harrison Foulkes. A minute later, Erico Sousa forced the visitors’ keeper into another good save.

On 18 minutes, some good interplay between Jon Benton and Dixon ended with Benton firing narrowly wide. Two minutes later, a Jimmy Muitt cross was volleyed wide by Charlie Carter. On 27 minutes, a Jordan Norville-Williams cross was headed goalwards by Muitt, straight into the hands of Wood keeper Nathan Ashmore. On 42 minutes, Appiah forced Foulkes into a fantastic save with a shot from point-blank range. Just before the break, Wood skipper Jack Payne volleyed wide from a Tom Whelan corner.

HT: Boreham Wood 0-0 Dorking Wanderers

At half-time, the heavens opened and, a minute after the restart, Dorking took the lead when a deflected Jason Prior shot found its way past Ashmore in the Wood goal. On 50 minutes, Niall McManus fired just wide from outside the area. Dorking controlled a lot of possession after the goal as Boreham Wood struggled to get a foothold in the game. On 64 minutes, Jake Young forced Ashmore into a save.

Following the introduction of Matt Rush and Abdul Abdulmalik, Wood had a bit of impetus and, on 73 minutes, Abdulmalik forced Foulkes into another good save after Callum Reynolds played the ball into his path. Six minutes later, Wanderers midfielder Josh Taylor shot straight at Ashmore. On 85 minutes, substitute Charles Clayden fired just wide for Wood. Boreham Wood’s afternoon went from bad to worse when Whelan was shown a straight red card in the first minute of stoppage time. In the final minute of stoppage time, Cameron Coxe was denied by another outstanding save from Foulkes.

FT: Boreham Wood 0-1 Dorking Wanderers

It was another disappointing afternoon for Boreham Wood as they dropped down to sixth in the Vanarama National League South table. Although Dorking controlled large parts of the game, Wood had the most chances and, but for excellent goalkeeping from Harrison Foulkes, they may have won the game.
