Two goals from Kwesi Appiah and one from Lee Ndlovu were enough to give Boreham Wood their fourth league win in a row, taking them up to 2nd in the league, one point behind Torquay United.

Luke Garrard named an unchanged starting lineup from Tuesday night’s victory over St Albans.

The visitors started on the front foot and got into some good positions. However, the game was effectively over after nine minutes when Boreham Wood were awarded a penalty after the ball struck the hand of Generals defender Jack Cawley. Referee Ben Tomlinson had no choice but to send Cawley off. Kwesi Appiah made no mistake from the spot to give Boreham Wood the lead. Not only were Boreham Wood in front, but they also had a one-man advantage. Wood doubled their lead on 20 minutes with an excellent strike from Lee Ndlovu. Chesham keeper Dillon Addai got his hand to it but was beaten by the power.

A minute later, Nathan Ashmore was forced into action, denying Mitchell Weiss at the near post. Appiah scored his second on 27 minutes with a neat finish at the near post. Five minutes before the break, the front two combined, and Ndlovu had the ball in the Generals’ net, but the linesman ruled it out for offside.

HT: Boreham Wood 3-0 Chesham United

The visitors were on the front foot at the start of the second half, with Boreham Wood seemingly happy to defend their three-goal lead. Mitchell Weiss fired over from a free kick soon after the restart. On 62 minutes, Connor Roberts forced Ashmore into a good save. 14 minutes later, Generals substitute Brad Clayton cut in from the right and fired wide.

Boreham Wood, who hadn’t shown much of an attacking threat in the second half, came to life on 80 minutes when Junior Dixon ran down the left and played in Abdul Abdulmalik, who twisted and turned well before firing narrowly wide. 5 minutes later, Omar Rowe went on a good run before finding Karl Oliyide, who shot narrowly wide for the visitors.

It was a job well done for Luke Garrard’s men, who didn’t have to be at their best to beat a Chesham United side that played with a man less for most of the match. With just one point off the top, Boreham Wood has every chance of being top of the table at Christmas if they beat Tonbridge Angels at home next Saturday.
