FA CUP MATCH PREVIEW: BOREHAM WOOD VS HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS

23 October 2013

FA CUP L NB

The Wood has a break from league action this Saturday as their attentions return to the Budweiser FA Cup. With this being the final qualifying round before a potential clash against one of the big boys in the first round proper, there is a lot riding on this game for both sides as well as the £12,500 prize money up for grabs

Our visitors Heybridge Swifts caused the upset of the previous round in knocking out Skrill South highflyers Bromley 2-1. Having been away in all previous rounds and having only lost once on the road all season they will be confident coming into Saturday’s game.

The Swifts have also had a reasonable start to their league season and currently sit in the play off places, Winning 6 of their 12 league games so far with only 2 defeats. On Saturday Heybridge were beaten in the FA Trophy by fancied Ryman Premier Side Canvey Island.

Wood haven’t had the best of starts to the Season and after Saturday’s defeat to Basingstoke currently sit in the bottom 3, however after a string of injuries and with the return of a fully fit defence which was the 2nd meanest in the division last year, Wood just need to add goals to their game.

A Hatrick and a Brace for Ola Sogbanmu and Rob Hastings respectively for the Reserves on Saturday as well as a run out after injury for Matty Wichelow will see them pushing for a recall into Ian Allinson’s match day squad.

Two former Wood players will be returning to the club with Heybridge in Danny Barber and Lee Kersey who will be looking to get one over their former employer.

With a place in the first round proper up for grabs come and cheer on the Wood this Saturday.
