EXTENDING AND ENHANCING OUR CLUBS AMBITION

14 June 2024

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce a whole series of building block signings across the board, that include player contract renewals plus options and a whole raft of new and or extended backroom staff contracts that bring both strength and support to all the clubs footballing structures.

In the last few weeks on top of the headlining new player signings, we have quietly looked toward the next two or three seasons with those already in the building. As such we have extended or renewed the contracts and options for Nathan Ashmore, Jack Payne, Femi Ilesanmi, Tyrone Marsh and Chris Bush.

The club feels these types of decisions will give us the best chance to move forward together with people who we both respect, admire and who we know have an affinity and love for the club and our supporters. These decisions are on top of the recent revamping of our footballing re-structures, that have seen the arrival of a new Head Coach Ross Jenkins and his Assistant Mark Ricketts.

These deals as well as the new signings to date have been quietly dealt with by the clubs new Sporting Director Charlie Hunter, who following a series of very detailed meetings and discussions with the Club Chairman, Head Coach, the Players and of course their representatives, has been pivotal in getting the deals done in a more professional manner.

On top of the above, we have as a club taken the decision to re-employ an old BWFC Player/Coach and Managerial favourite in Micky Engwell. “Engers” as he is more affectionately known, will replace Lloyd Doyley within our Academy and his job will include looking after our young player loans, improve our young talent pool and improve our young player recruitment and pathways into senior football.

The club can also announce that we have also employed Jordan Kelly as our First Team and Academy Goal Keeping Coach for next season. We have also re-employed Brandon Bevans as our Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach, while also re-employing Jake Moss as our Senior Analyst.

Finally we have promoted one of our Senior Academy Coaches Ross Weare, to the First Team coaching group which completes Ross Jenkins and Mark Ricketts back room staff.

Chairman Danny Hunter said “you need good people, you need hunger, you need selfless people with selfless attitudes and you need winning mentalities and ambition within the dressing room to bring you sustained success.

“I believe the new staff and players, plus the senior player contract extensions, when coupled with the other new players who are still to be announced, will bring us the promotion we are striving for and hopefully their talents can perhaps even bring us a title?

“I think as a club we have learnt a great deal from last season’s disappointment and so it is important to evolve both intelligently and quickly. These new staff additions, the structure tweaks and the new player signings or extensions, are going to be very important building blocks for us if we are to be successful in the future.

Hunter concluded, “It’s now my job to find an extra few quid to allow Charlie and Ross the chance to finish off the squad rebuild and ensure we are at a level across the board that will give us the best chance to achieve success”…
