EXTENDED: DAVID AGBONTOHOMA

1 July 2023

Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the contract extension of David Agbontohoma on a new deal that will see the defender remain at Meadow Park until the end of the 2024/25 season, with an option to extend his stay for a further season.

Agbontohoma originally joined on a shortterm loan from Sheffield Wednesday as the Wood prepared to face League One side Accrington Stanley in the Emirates FA Cup 3rd round amidst an defensive injury crisis. David made an immediate impact putting in a brilliant defensive display and helping the team earn a welldeserved replay.

From there David went from strengthtostrength, becoming a regular in the backline and earning backtoback clean sheets against Altrincham and Aldershot. As David’s initial one-month loan was nearing expiry, Wood were able to capture the signature of David to make his stay at Meadow Park permanent on 2 February 2023.

David continued to remain a key figure in our defence, helping the team achieve its third play-off finish in five seasons, as well as finishing the season with the best defensive record in the league.

Upon David extending his contract with the Wood, Manager Luke Garrard commented, “I’m delighted to get David signed on a longer-term deal. For me David was an integral part of our progression last season, having joined the group early in the new year and paying throughout our best run after the Christmas break. At only 21-years-old he has a much older head on his shoulders, showing a real attitude and hunger towards defending. He will only improve under our guidance, and I’m excited to see his progression over the next couple of years.”

David, we are delighted you will still be calling Meadow Park home until the end of the 2024/25 season, at least!
