CREESE STARS FOR TEAM GB IN 2017 MACCABIAH GAMES

Boreham Wood’s Daniel Creese is currently starring for Team GB at the famous Maccabiah Games in Israel.

It is the 20^th Edition of the annual Maccabiah Games, which are often referred to as the “Jewish Olympics.”

The games take place every four years and is known as the world’s third-largest sporting event, behind the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.

Creese is competing in the Team GB under 18’s football team, having successfully trialled for his place over a year ago.

The 17-year-old has been training with his team on a semi-regular basis for over six months now.

Creese, who qualifies to play through his mother, has been one of the players of the tournament for Team GB so far, first netting the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with favourites, and hosts, Israel.

The 17-year-old then scored again in a 2-0 victory over Spain, before providing the assist for the other goal.

The prolific Creese then provided an identical performance in another 2-0 win, this time at the hands of Germany, the youngster both scored and assisted once more.

80 countries and 10,000 athletes take part in the games annually across 43 sports and with temperatures reaching 30 degrees, the players compete in extreme conditions.

Creese is also competing alongside the son of Brazil’s legendary striker Ronaldo, who will be playing for Brazil.

Team GB face South Africa and Venezuela in their two final group matches, before finding out if they have qualified for the knockout rounds.
