COMMUNITY ROUND UP

5 July 2013

Its been a busy week for Boreham Wood FC’s Community department having taken part in Elstree and Borehamwood Town Councils Parade and Family day as well as holding our own very successful Community day.

The club entered a float through the streets of Borehamwood, The community department and members of our very successful PASE Scheme were in attendance along with the two trophies the U18’s won throughout the season. Players were posing for pictures andParade4 answering questions about the club along the way, in what was a very successful day for the Town and Football Club.

This was followed up by Families day which was held on Meadow Park where the community once again came together with many stalls being run by various organisations. Our community department were on hand, giving away FREE Season Tickets to all Children as well as promoting the prestigious pre season friendlies which are nearly upon us starting with a FULL West Ham 1st team squad on 10th July.  We also had a speed tent which proved very popular with kids as young as 5 all the way up to the parents taking part. First Team Player Sam Doolan was on hand to liaise with the kids and parents and answer the many questions that were asked.

The week ended on a high where over 50 kids and there parents arrived for the Community day which was organised by the Clubs Community department which gave everyone an insight of the club and also showing what goes on behind the scenes and how the club is run.

tour1The day started with a skills session held by our very own coaches and were also joined by the 1st Team Assistant Manager and Player Luke Garrard. The kids were shown many different skills and techniques which they all enjoyed and put to good use later in the day.

Following the skills session the kids and their parents enjoyed a very detailed tour of Meadow Park led by Vice Chairman Billy Hunter, taking them into the players Changing Rooms, medical department, Gymnasium around the ground and also into the boardroom.

After having a drink and a bite to eat the kids were raring to go and took part in a tournament on the 3G pitch, which was enjoyed by all and the skills learnt earlier in the day were put into practice. Once the tournament was over we held our very own Cross Bar Challenge where each of the kids received medals. The day wasn’t complete as it was the parents turn to take part in the Cross Bar Challenge and show the kids how it was done.tour3
