Boreham Wood U16s crushed Hemel Hempstead Town with a magnificent seven unanswered goals in the quarter finals of the Herts County Cup.

Hemel, leaders of the Watford Friendly League premier ‘ Red’ Division were in confident mood before kick-off and playing at Hemel Town’s Vauxhall Road ground fancied that an upset was on the cards. Unfortunately for them Boreham Wood took complete control of the match from the kick-off. Jack Read opened the scoring on 15 minutes and Stuart Henderson added a further two before half-time and completed his hat-trick after the break. In the second half Wood continued to apply the pressure and further goals were added by Jack Waldren and a Elliot Bailey brace to make the final score 7-0.

Overall a commanding performance, Wood’s defence were in an imperious mood and notched up their 9th clean sheet of the season out in 13 matches, whilst the midfield functioned efficiently and won any loose balls to set up numerous chances. Joe Kazer won the man-of-the match award with a battling performance in midfield.

Either Sun Postal Youth or Ware Academy will be Wood’s opponents in the semi final on 13 March, and the winners will meet either Hoddesdon Town or Broxbourne Borough at the County Ground Letchworth on 10 April.
