Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s men travel to Hampshire to face Farnborough in the Vanarama National League South, kicking off at 19:45.
Last Season for the Boro
In their first season back in the sixth tier since 2015, Boro ended the campaign just one point short of a Vanarama National League South play-off place. A 2-1 win at Weymouth on the final day wasn’t enough to secure a top-seven finish, as Aveley edged them out by defeating Bath City.
Form Guide
Spencer Day’s side currently sit seventh in the form guide, with three wins, two draws, and just one defeat in their last six games. During this run, Boro have beaten league leaders Worthing and play-off contenders Weston-super-Mare, while also earning a 2-2 draw at second-placed Dorking Wanderers, lifting them to ninth in the standings with an outside chance of a play-off spot.
However, form has dipped slightly in recent weeks, and a defeat tomorrow would extend their winless streak to three. Last time out, Farnborough drew away at fierce rivals Slough Town at Arbour Park. Boro started brightly and took the lead into half-time through an Alfie Pavey goal in the 36th minute. However, the momentum shifted in the second half, allowing Slavi Spasov to equalise eight minutes after the restart. Despite both sides pushing for a winner, they had to settle for a draw.
Last Time We Met
The Wood secured their first league win since 5 October with a 3-1 victory over Farnborough. We took an early lead when Taylor Clark turned Lee Ndlovu’s cross into his own net, before Junior Dixon’s deflected shot doubled the advantage. Richard Chin pulled one back for the visitors, but Charles Clayden’s free-kick restored the two-goal cushion after the break. Farnborough enjoyed spells of possession and tested Nathan Ashmore, but the Wood managed the game well. They could have added a fourth, with Richardson and Kwesi Appiah both going close in the final stages.
One to Watch
Boreham Wood will be looking to keep Boro winger Ricky Holmes quiet tomorrow evening. Farnborough’s experienced number 11 has netted ten goals this season and will be eager to add to his tally as Boro push for a play-off spot.
The Wood
Luke Garrard’s men will aim to make it two wins on the bounce tomorrow evening, following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Aveley. Despite sitting third in the form table with four wins in six, the Wood endured a tough week on the road, picking up just one point from a possible six. A 2-2 draw at Torquay was followed by a 2-1 defeat at Truro City, dealing a setback in the title charge. However, Saturday’s win has put us back on course for promotion.
Our latest outing saw Wood secure a vital 1-0 win against Aveley at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium. Constant pressure was rewarded in the 23rd minute when Erico Sousa headed home from a Femi Ilesanmi cross. That goal proved decisive, as we controlled the game to claim an important three points in our promotion push.
