Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s men look to continue their impressive form as we host Chesham United in the Vanarama National League South, kicking off at 15:00.
Last Season for the Generals
It was a season to remember for Chesham United, as they were crowned Southern Football League Premier Division South champions and promoted to the Vanarama National League South for the first time in the club’s history. The Generals finished the season with 90 points from 42 games, nine points clear of second-placed AFC Totton.
Form Guide
The Generals have had a tough run of recent form, winning only once in their last five games.
Two goals in two minutes for Truro City meant Chesham United travelled back from Cornwall empty-handed. The Generals responded to that result with a 2-1 home win against Hampton & Richmond Borough, after goals from Brad Clayton and Nathan Minhas earned the three points for the league’s newcomers.
A goalless draw at The Meadow against Eastbourne Borough was followed by a disappointing 3-1 home loss against fellow promoted side Hornchurch FC, after a late double from the Urchins secured the three points.
Their winless run extended to three games in their last match at home to Salisbury FC in the Isuzu FA Trophy. A 78th-minute goal from Connor Stevens could not inspire a comeback after conceding three goals earlier in the match.
Last Time We Met
It was a 2-1 away win for the Wood in the last meeting between the two sides. A goal in each half from Lee Ndlovu put the Wood Army on the road to a comfortable victory. However, a late Nathan Minhas goal made for a nervy finish to the game, but we returned to Hertfordshire with the deserved three points.
One to Watch
Nathan Minhas will be one for the Wood to watch this weekend. He joined Chesham United from fellow Vanarama National League South side Slough Town last summer and has impressed with nine goals and two assists in all competitions for the Generals, including a goal against the Wood earlier in the season.
The Wood
Luke Garrard’s men have been in a rich vein of form recently, winning four of their last five games. The Wood’s goalless draw at home to high-flying Torquay United led to a run of four consecutive victories.
A Kwesi Appiah brace secured the three points at Bath City before an incredible comeback from a two-goal deficit earned the Wood a win at Chelmsford City. A goal from Jayden Richardson, along with a brace from Lee Ndlovu, completed the comeback at Melbourne Stadium.
A 1-0 win against Eastbourne Borough in the Isuzu FA Trophy for the Wood Army came before a convincing 3-0 win against local rivals St Albans City. Once again, goals from Kwesi Appiah won the game, with the striker scoring an incredible second-half hat-trick.
