Match preview: Bath City (A)

29 November 2024

Luke Garrard’s men travel to Somerset tomorrow afternoon to take on Bath City at Twerton Park, with kick-off at 15:00.

Last season for the Romans

Bath City reached the Vanarama National League South play-offs last season, finishing in sixth place. However, they were eventually knocked out by Braintree Town, who eventually went on to win promotion, in a 1-0 defeat.

Form guide

With only one win in their last five matches, Bath City have had a difficult patch, currently sitting in 19th place. The Romans hosted Weston-super-Mare on the 9th of November, in a game where they suffered a 2-0 loss. In the Isuzu FA Trophy, they faced Chertsey Town, where they were leading 2-1 going into the final 10 minutes, but Chertsey found two goals in the remaining time to progress to the next round.

Returning to league action, the Romans faced Maidstone United, in a game packed with goals, but the points were shared as Maidstone found an equaliser in stoppage time to level the game at 3-3. A trip to the south coast was next to face Eastbourne Borough, where it looked like it was going to finish goalless, but the Sports found a late winner through George Alexander. Most recently, Bath City found their first win in ten matches in a 1-0 victory against Salisbury.

Last time we met

On the opening day of the season, the Romans came to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium. The Wood could come away with a 1-0 win through a late Tyrone Marsh goal.

One to watch

In a difficult season, Scott Wilson has been ever present in squad selections for the Romans. The centre forward has scored three goals so far so far this campaign.

The Wood

Last weekend, it finished goalless at the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park as we were helf to a 0-0 with Torquay United. The Wednesday prior to that, we progressed to the third round of the Herts Senior Cup after a 5-1 win against Enfield FC.

Before this, the Wood won on penalties against Felixstowe & Walton to progress to the third round of the Isuzu FA Trophy. Charles Clayden’s strike earnt us a 1-0 victory over Truro City at home and finally, earlier in the month, we made the trip to Aveley. However, we returned to Hertfordshire empty handed after a narrow 1-0 defeat.
