Gus returned to Meadow Park in July 2024 on a season-long loan from Solihull Moors. Mafuta began his career at Bristol City, enjoying loan spells with Weston Super Mare and Nuneaton Borough, before departing Ashton Gate to join Gateshead on a permanent basis in September 2015. Following back-to-back promotions with Salford City, clinching promotion to the EFL in a play-off final victory over AFC Fylde at Wembley in May 2019, Gus left the club owned by the class of 92 in June 2019 following the conclusion of his contract.
After a single season in the north east with Hartlepool United, Gus signed for Boreham Wood on a two-year contract in August 2020. Gus would make 78 appearances during his first spell at Meadow Park, notably contributing to the club’s historic FA Cup run, embedding his name in the hearts of Wood fans for his goal against local rivals St. Albans City in the FA Cup second round proper. After two seasons away from Meadow Park between 2022 and 2024 with York City and Solihull Moors, Gus returned to Boreham Wood on the eve of the 2024/25 campaign on a season-long loan.
