MATCH PREVIEW: DORKING WANDERERS (A)

19 August 2024

Dorking Wanderers vs Boreham Wood // Meadowbank Stadium // Tuesday 20th August 2024 // 19:45 KO

After a first away day and first away win of the season coming in a 2-1 victory over Chesham United at the Meadow on Saturday, the Wood are back on the road again tomorrow evening as Ross Jenkins’ men go anticlockwise on the M25 to Dorking. Our opponents from Surrey were also relegated from the National League last season and naturally, will have the same ambition as the Wood this season, to go back up at the first time of asking. Marc White’s Dorking side will therefore no doubt be looking to stop the lads from making it 3 wins from 3 so far this campaign and pick up some more valuable early points.

Wood Army, you came out in great numbers on Saturday, Ross Jenkins and the lads need the same tomorrow evening!

FORM GUIDE // ALL COMPS

Dorking Wanderers: W-W-L-W-W

Dorking, like the Wood, are currently in good form, having won all but 1 of their previous 5 matches, winning both of their opening league fixtures in the process.

In their 5th outing of pre-season, Marc White’s side welcomed Southern League South Division 1 side Sholing to Meadowbank Stadium, a day to forget for the visitors as the Wanderers put 5 in the net. They would then follow this up with another win, a 2-1 win at home to Farnham Town of the Isthmian League South Central Division. However, a defeat would follow this for the Wanderers on a trip to the West Midlands where Marc White’s side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Rushall Olympic.

Despite the loss in their final pre-season tie, Dorking would not appear to be badly effected in their league opener away to Truro City, Marc White’s men coming away from Cornwall with a 2-1 win. Finally, we take you back to the Wanderers’ most recent game and another win, this time coming in the form of a 1-0 home win over Chippenham Town, likely fuelling the Surrey side with confidence coming into tomorrow evening’s big tie.

ONE TO WATCH:

Charlie Carter:

Prior to the 27-year-old Dorking skipper’s move to Marc White’s side, Carter graduated from Woking’s academy and went on to represent two EFL clubs in Chesterfield and Stevenage as well as National League side, Eastleigh. The midfielder joined the Wanderers’ in October of 2023, hit the back of the net 8 times last season and bagged the winner for Marc White’s side away to Truro City on the opening day of the current campaign.
